In a motor vehicle having a closed body and a sliding door, the vertical door joints 2, 2, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 5, are interrupted, about half way up the height of the door T, by shoulders forming horizontal door joints 3 and all horizontal door joints 1, 3, 3, 5<SP>1</SP> visible from the side of the vehicle are stepped (i.e. the door edges are not flush with the adjacent parts of the body), in each case as viewed in vertical cross-section, Fig. 9, through the joint. The door is opened by displacing it transversely of the opening and thereafter sliding it parallel to itself. |
