863,641. Photothermographic processes. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. March 29, 1957 [April 2, 1956], No. 10378/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 98(2) A graphic original is copied on to a heatsensitive copy sheet by placing the original beneath the copy sheet and irradiating it with radiant energy through the copy sheet (reflex printing), the radiation being reflected by the non-image areas of the original so as to pass back through the copy sheet and form a visible image therein. The opaque image areas of the original absorb the radiant energy and do not reflect or conduct it back to the copy sheet. The heat-sensitive layer may comprise ferric stearate and gallic acid in an ethyl cellulose binder, or gum guaiac and cerium stearate in an ethyl cellulose binder. |
