PURPOSE: A piston for a reciprocating internal combustion engine is provided to improve cleaning performance of an anti-polishing ring by reducing a gap size between the anti-polishing ring and the piston. CONSTITUTION: A piston(1) for a reciprocating internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder(2) and a piston ring package(3). The piston moves up and down from a top dead center to a bottom dead center along the direction of an axial line. The piston ring package comprises one or more piston rings(31,32) on a jacket surface(100). The piston ring package is placed between a piston crown(4) which has a top land(5) and a piston skirt(6). The piston skirt forms a lower section of the piston separated from a surface(7) of a combustion space of the piston. Centering units(8,81) center the piston in a radial direction.
