In a method of manufacturing a reflex klystron which is suitable for millimetric waves, after the tube has been completely mounted and evacuated, both the electron gun 1 and the reflector electrode 6 are accurately centred by fixing means which form part of the complexed tube and which are then permanently locked in position. As shown the electron gun and reflector electrode supports 16, 14 are brought out through the tube wall by means of stiff but slightly flexible diaphragms 17, 7 so that they are adjustable in directions at right angles to the tube axis by means of adjusting screws 19, 12 arranged outside the vacuum. When the electron gun and the reflector electrode have been accurately centred the adjusting screws are finally locked in position, for example by means of cement 13. |
