Switches 1, having a common operating shaft 2 protruding through the carrying wall 3, are sealed against splash water, explosive gases and the like by a member 6 tightly mounted on the shaft 2 and having deep annular grooves which mate with grooves in a fixed member 7 having a sealing rim 8 clamped against the wall 3 by a plate 5. The member 7 may extend as shown to form seals 10 around the screws 4 with a further sealing rim 9. The members 6 and 7 are both of a moderately elastic grease-resisting plastic. The spaces 14 between the mating grooves may be filled with grease. |
