The gear has a rope drum for raising loads, and an electric motor for driving the rope drum. A stator of the electric motor comprises a coil body arranged at an end face of the rope drum. A rotor (22) forms an axially or radially extending air gap in an axial or radial distance to the stator. A permanent magnet arrangement is provided on a support element (222) that is connected with the rope drum. The motor is formed as a segment motor. The arrangement has permanent magnets (221) arranged in segments on the support element, where the permanent magnets cooperate with coils of the coil body. An independent claim is also included for a container crane.
