A coverslip handling device 100 comprises a pick-up component 200 for picking up a coverslip 800 and a sensor device 203, 204 for checking the state of the coverslip picked up. The device is arranged to automatically pick up a coverslip by means of the pick-up component, to check the state of the picked-up coverslip by means of the sensor device so that unusable coverslips can be detected, and to automatically set down a coverslip, which has been identified as usable, by means of the pick-up component on a slide. The device is additionally arranged to automatically discard a coverslip, which has been found to be unusable, by means of the pick-up component. |
