The invention relates to a portable communication tool (1) comprising a control device (2) designed to perform a function which aids a driver when operating a vehicle (8). The portable communication tool (1) has an acceleration sensor (4), which is designed to measure an acceleration of the portable communication tool (1) and to transmit measured values for the acceleration to the control device (2), wherein the control device (2) is designed to perform the function dependent on the measured values for the acceleration. The invention also relates to a driver assistance system and a method for aiding a driver when operating a vehicle (8).
