<p>The subject invention provides a novel and advantageous strain of Pasteuria bacteria with nematicidal activity against Reniform nematodes. The subject invention provides the novel bacteria culture referred to as ATCC PTA-9643, and mutants thereof. Also provided are nematicidal compositions comprising the Pasteuria strain or its mutants or variants and methods for treating phytopathogenic and soil-dwelling nematodes.</p>
