A post box 1 comprises a container 2 for receiving packages and the like that is accessible via a lockable lid 6. The post box is designed to attach to a door 8 of a house or other building by the inclusion of mounting means (20, Fig 2) that pass though the letter box (22, Fig 2) in the door in order for the container to be mounted adjacent a first side of the door and a part of the mounting means to be located adjacent a second part of the door. In this way, the post box may be temporarily mounted to a door to provide a means of receiving packages when a recipient is not present. The post box may include an access opening 6 which enables a delivery person to open via a combination lock for which he has been given the pass code. In addition, the post box includes a letter box opening to enable conventional post to still be delivered since the usual letter box of the door is not operational due to the mounting of the post box. |
