The invention relates to a method for preparing an asphalt mix, comprising contacting and mixing, at a temperature in the range from 75 - 110°C, foamed bitumen and aggregate material with a low moisture content. This is surprising since prevailing opinions in the specialist field are that a low moisture content reduces the miscibility and processibility of the final asphalt mix and asphalt. For this reason, large quantities of mixing moisture are always used. The invention also relates to asphalt mix obtainable using this low-moisture method, and to the advantageous compacting of the asphalt mix to form a high-quality asphalt at temperatures between 110 and 50°C, which are much lower than is customary in a compacting process. |
