851,092. Spray-producers. MACHINES ELECTROSTATIQUES S.A. Jan. 14, 1959 [Jan. 14, 1958 (2)], No. 1428/59. Class 69 (3). A gun for the electrostatic spraying of paint &c. includes a support 10 for a spraying head, not shown, rotated by an electric motor 2 via a shaft 11, and supplied with liquid through a line 4 and passage 7 &c. A cable 5 supplies a high potential to the head through a metallic part 9, and a cable 15 supplies the motor. A trigger 13 controls the starting of the motor and the high voltage and liquid supply. The latter is also regulated by a wheel 6 controlling a needle valve 16. The gun body, handle and drive shaft are of insulating material, and an earth wire is connected to a ring 14. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, a barrel 22 of insulating material is attached to an earthed metallic handle 21, and has channels for a drive shaft 28 from the motor 34, and for a high potential cable 30 and high resistances 25. Paint flows to the rotary head 27 through a passage 23 and nozzle 24, and is controlled by a trigger 31 which also controls the motor and high potential supply. The metallic end parts of the gun adjacent the head are interconnected by a metal clip to avoid sparking. A paint reservoir may be carried on the gun and the motor may drive a pumping system supplying the head; a screen adjacent the head may direct the field towards the sprayed object. Specifications 637,434, 639,653, 643,579 and 719,687 are referred to. |
