A method for the location registration of a mobile terminal in a mobile communication system is provided to solve registration procedure delays, registration failures, an increase in incoming/outgoing failure rates, deterioration in call quality, etc., which can be generated when many mobile terminals carry out location registration at the same, by delaying location registration according to slot numbers in case a mobile terminal executes location registration at the boundary area of an MSC(Mobile Switching Center). A mobile terminal determines channel slots using a hashing function and delays location registration during a preset time according to the determined slot numbers(S201,S203). Then the mobile terminal transmits a parameter change registration message to the RTS(Radio Transceiver Subsystem) of a radio access network in order to register its location and state(S205). The RTS, receiving the parameter change registration message, delivers it to an RNC(Radio Network Controller). The RNC allocates a paging channel for the mobile terminal, and transmits a registration admission instruction message to the mobile terminal through the paging channel(S207). Also the RNC transmits a registration message to the MSC(S209). The mobile terminal, receiving the registration admission instruction message from the radio access network, transfers from non-slotted mode to slot mode(S211). |
