[Also in Group XXXVI] A method of installing an electrical system which comprises an elongated support member and an electrical member, the support member 22 being made up of a plurality of sections which are joined together in end-to-end relationship and then moved along the path which the support member is to occupy, the support member then being secured to a supporting structure, such as a roof truss, by means of stringers 26 and clamps 36; the electrical member also being made up of a number of sections the first section of which is provided with brackets 54 having rollers 50, 52 which cooperate with the support member 22 so that the electrical member may be moved along the support member, the remaining sections of the electrical member being electrically and mechanically joined together and provided with brackets 54 so that as the sections of the electrical member are joined together they may be successively moved along the support member 22. The electrical member may comprise fixtures such as discharge lamps 62 or it may comprise a ducting containing electrical conductors which ducting may be used to support a number of electrical fixtures, the connection between the fixtures and the electrical conductors being made by conventional plugs and sockets. In a further embodiment the support member may incorporate the electrical conductors as shown in Fig. 20. The support member 290 contains two electrical conductors 304, 306, the connection between which and the electrical member represented by discharge lamps 62 is made by sliding contact members 330, 332, the electrical member moving along the support member 290 by means of rollers 316, 318. In a further embodiment the support member may be arranged to support, on rollers, a movable cage from which the electrical member may be serviced. Specification 845,277 is referred to. |
