APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR GENERATING TILE MOSAIC IMAGE USING EDGE INFORMATION

PURPOSE: A device for generating a tile mosaic image using edge information and a method thereof are provided to maintain temporal consistency of locations, shapes, and colors of tiles between tile mosaic frames and consistency of stroke, thereby generating a tile mosaic moving picture with good quality. CONSTITUTION: An offset area determining unit(120) sets an offset area by using a distance map around on an important edge. A tile generating unit(130) determines sizes, shapes, locations, and colors of tiles for each offset area. The tile generating unit generates tiles. A rendering unit(140) renders tiles which belong to each offset area. The rendering unit generates a tile mosaic image frame. The tile mosaic image frame corresponds to an input image frame.
