PURPOSE: A filtering medium for an oil filter is provided to filter oil in the oil circuit of a gear mechanism and an internal combustion engine and to reduce the height of the oil filter. CONSTITUTION: A filtering medium(4) includes a first filtering layer and a second filtering layer. The first filtering layer includes coarse filtering media. The second filtering layer is dense filtering media. The first filtering layer is arranged on the second filtering layer. Intermediate chambers(5) are arranged between the first filtering layer and the second filtering layer. The first filtering layer and the second filtering layer are spaced apart at the region of the intermediate chambers to the flowing direction of fluid in the oil circuit. The intermediate chambers are based on a frame element arranged between the first filtering layer and the second filtering layer. The frame elements form a plurality of intermediate chambers. Through holes are respectively arranged in the second filtering layer to respective intermediate chamber.
