PURPOSE: A screen capturing method for a portable terminal and an apparatus thereof are provided to decide a capture range on a screen, thereby preventing a capture of an unnecessary part. CONSTITUTION: A touch screen unit(11) performs an input and an output. A storage unit(12) stores data. A controller(14) decides a capture range and captures content displayed in the capture range as an image. The controller displays a square area having a diagonal line made of two of detected touch points. If the movement of touch points is detected, the controller updates and displays the square area corresponding to the touch points moving. If the touch is cleared, the controller decides the square area, corresponding to final touch points, as the capture range and displays it.
