METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SELF-ADAPTING DYNAMIC POWER REDUCTION MECHANISM FOR PHYSICAL LAYER DEVICES IN PACKET DATA NETWORKS

PURPOSE: A method for an adapting dynamic power reduction mechanism and system thereof are provided to reduce power consumption rates by selectively deactivating each configuration elements. CONSTITUTION: One or more circuits monitor traffic activation related to an interface between configuration elements remained in network apparatuses and physical layer configuration elements of network apparatuses(102,104). The traffic activation includes inbound or outbound traffic. The circuits establish power management operations of the physical layer configuration elements based on the monitoring. The physical layer is an ethernet physical layer.
