IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing images are provided to rapidly generate high quality target point images using depth transition data. CONSTITUTION: A decoding unit(110) decodes depth transition data. A first calculation unit(120) generates foreground/background maps of a target viewpoint using decoded transition data. A rendering unit(140) compares the foreground/background map of the target viewpoint with the foreground/background map of at least one reference viewpoint. The rendering unit determines color value of each pixel of an image.
