The method involves positioning a fastening tape (21) e.g. adhesive/gluing tape, on an external face (20) of a glazing (2). A safety device (5) for protecting the glazing, is mounted on the face to cover a free band (22) of the face until a junction line. The glazing is encapsulated by placing an encapsulation mold (3) for covering the free band and the tape. The mold is cut along the junction line between the free band and the tape using a cutting device (4). A mold part covering the free band is removed, while another mold portion covering the tape is retained on the glazing to form a seal. An independent claim is also included for a safety device for protecting a part during installation of a seal.
