Disclosed is an immunogenic composition comprising: (a) a polynucleotide adjuvant comprising: a polyriboinosinic-polyribocytidylic acid (PIC), at least one antibiotic, and at least one positive ion; and (b) at least one antigen; wherein the said antigen is selected from the group consisting of: (i) a viral antigen selected from the group consisting of an adeniviridae, an arenaviridae, an astroviridae, a bunyaviridae, a cliciviridae, a flaviviridae, a hepatitis delta virus, a hepeviridae, a herpesviridae, a nidovirales, a piconavdae an orthomyxoviridae, a papillomaviridae, a parvoviridae, a polyomaviridae, a poxviridae, a reoviridae, a retroviridae and a togaviridae; (ii) a bacterial antigen selected from the group consisting of an actinobacteria, a chlamydiae, a firmicutes, a proteobacteria and a spirochaetes; (iii) a fungal antigen selected from the group consisting of an Ascomycota and a basidiomycota; (iv) a parasitic antigen selected from the group consisting of a phylum sarcomastigophora, a phylum apiicomplexa, a phylum ciliophora, a phylum plathyhelminthes, a phylum nematoda and a phylum arthropoda; (v) a cancer antigen selected from the group consisting of a bone, a brain, a breast, a digestive/gastrointestinal, an endocrine, an eye, a genitourinary, a germ a cell, a gynecologic, a head and neck, a hematological/blood, a lung, musculoskeletal, a neurologic, a respiratory/thoracic and a skin cancer.
