The circuit (14) has an electric transformer (26) comprising a primary winding (28) connected to an electric impulse generation device (34), and a secondary winding (30) connected in series with a capacitor (24). An electromagnetic coil (36) comprising a saturable core is connected in parallel to the secondary winding of the electric transformer, where inductance of the coil lies within a range of 235 micro-Henry to 20 milli-Henry. Terminals (38) for connection of the flashlamp are arranged in series between the capacitor and the secondary winding which comprises two terminal ends (40). An independent claim is also included for an electric optical pumping system.
