The equipment has a visual and/or acoustic detector (6) intended to be installed at a point (7.1) of a dedicated network for checking the connection of a liquid discharge pipe e.g. wastewater pipe (1). The detector includes a video camera (10) that captures images of the liquid flow in the network, and a microphone (11) that collects acoustic waves in the network. The detector includes a transmitter for remote transmission of the collected information to a portable terminal (22) of an operator to determine whether the checked pipe connection is perfect. An independent claim is also included for a method for checking the connection of a liquid discharge pipe in a house or a building.
