<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece cutting apparatus and a method of cutting a workpiece where a sliding state or a holding state of a plurality of piles of blockish workpieces is stabilized, and the cutting accuracy of the workpiece is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The workpiece cutting apparatus includes: a workpiece cutting part having a plurality of wires; a workpiece positioning element having a positioning reference plate having a positioning reference plane and a positioning holding member for positioning the workpiece to prevent it from shifting in a direction orthogonal to the positioning reference plane while the workpieces is pushed against the positioning reference plane; a grasping reference plate having a grasping reference plane orthogonal to the positioning reference plane; a workpiece grasping element having a grasping reference plate with a grasping reference plane orthogonal to the positioning reference plane, and a grasping holding member disposed facing the grasping reference plate and having a slit at an end in a direction where the workpiece is cut, and for grasping both ends of the workpiece located in a longitudinal direction of the wire; and a push-out means for pushing out the workpiece in the cutting direction toward the fixedly positioned workpiece cutting part.
