<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for performing image formation by applying a recording liquid to an intermediate transfer unit, capable of suppressing bleeding without use of a treatment liquid, a powder or the like except the recording liquid while securing the discharging performance of recording liquid from the head; and an image forming method using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer unit 37 with a conductive surface, on which a conductive recording liquid discharged from nozzles 61a provided on heads 61Y, 61M, 61C, 61BK (hereinafter, head 61) is applied; a voltage application means 33 which applies a voltage between the intermediate transfer unit 37 and the head 61 to electrolyze the conductive recording liquid which is discharged from the head 61 to bridge the gap between the head 61 and the intermediate transfer unit 37; a control means 40 which reduces the application voltage at a time when the diameter of the narrowest portion of the conductive recording liquid in such a bridging state becomes 3 μm for controlling the discharge by the voltage applied to the conductive recording liquid by the voltage application. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
