An apparatus, method and computer program are provided. The method comprises: detecting, at processing circuitry and illumination drive circuitry, at least one synchronization signal provided by display drive circuitry; writing display data to at least one frame memory using the processing circuitry, in dependence upon the at least one synchronization signal detected at the processing circuitry; and controlling at least one illumination source using the illumination drive circuitry, in dependence upon the at least one synchronization signal detected at the illumination drive circuitry.
