<p>The present invention provides a method, system and gateway for processing messages when a gateway has failed. The method includes: after a first gateway has failed, a second gateway sending a notification that the first gateway has failed to a Layer 4 switch communicatively linked to the first gateway and starting a flow of taking over a first gateway message, wherein the second gateway is a backup gateway of the first gateway; the Layer 4 switch forwarding the current message to the second gateway according to a takeover strategy corresponding to the first gateway when determining that the current message is a message to be sent to the first gateway after receiving the notification; and the second gateway forwarding the current message using the flow of taking over the first gateway message. According to the present invention, the problem that the message cannot be processed timely when the gateway has failed with the existing manual backup mode is solved. At the same time, the present invention does not need too much participation of the gateway maintenance personnel, reducing the requirement on the personnel and saving the labour cost.</p> |
