<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor capable of efficiently flowing wind generated from a fun along an outer circumference surface of a motor to cool the motor, and a sewing machine comprising the motor. <P>SOLUTION: A motor 30 has a rotating output shaft and is attached to the sewing machine. A body portion 31 of the motor 30 comprises a stator 32 for rotating the output shaft 12. The body portion 31 rotatably holds the output shaft 12 in its axial center portion. The motor 30 connects a fan to the output shaft 12 in a state that a rotating shaft of the fan is coaxial to the output shaft 12. The fan fans a side of the body portion 31 when being rotated. The motor 30 comprises a reduced diameter portion 36 in a fan side outer circumference of the body portion 31.
