<p>A sheet folding device capable of automatically folding a band-like sheet material, the device being compact and simplified. The present folding device (131) is provided with a folding stage (132), a stage support device (133), and cartridge affixation devices (135). Sheet materials (12, 15) are pulled out of cartridges (22x, 22y), which are respectively located on an X-axis and a Y-axis, to the folding work surface (143) of the folding stage (132). A first rotation drive operation and a second rotation drive operation are performed alternately, the first rotation drive operation rotating the folding stage (132) by half a rotation about the X-axis of the folding stage (132) with the folding stage (132) supported by an X-axis support device (133x), the second rotation drive operation rotating the folding stage (132) by half a rotation about the Y-axis of the folding stage (132) with the folding stage (132) supported by an Y-axis support device (133y). In synchronism with the above operations, cartridge affixation devices (135) rotate the cartridges (22), which are each located on the same axis as the rotation axis of each corresponding cartridge affixation device (135), by half a rotation in the same direction as the folding stage (132).</p> |
