The system (100) has a discharge resistor (115) selectively connected with an electrical power bus (110). One of contactors (120, 150) is effectively arranged between a battery (105) and the power bus. The contactor connects the power bus with the resistor in a standard mode for discharging electrical energy stored in a module (125). The contactor connects the bus with the battery in a vehicle operating mode. A controller (140) actuates the contactor for selectively connecting the bus with the battery or the resistor. A precharging resistor (130) is arranged between the battery and the bus.
