Provided is a control device for a vehicular power transmission system, which performs an engine control for a target value of an engine speed at a shifting time. In this transmission system, a target value properly corresponding to an actual vehicle speed is set at the shifting time for a shift-up, so that the engine output is promptly raised to shorten the shifting time period. In the engine control at the shifting time, the target value of the engine speed is set on the basis of the signal from wheel speed detecting means for detecting the speed of a wheel, such as an anti-lock control device. In a manner to match such an actual vehicle speed properly as varies with the increase in a clutch application at the shifting time, therefore, the target value of the engine speed can be set so that the speed change for the shift-up at the accelerating time of the vehicle can be promptly executed without being followed by a shifting shock. At a shift-down time, the target value of the engine speed is set according to the actual speed determined from the signal of the input shaft speed of the transmission system.
|
