<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the chemical stability and the thermal stability of a composite material or a hybrid material. <P>SOLUTION: A separator comprises a base material 10 comprising a main portion 10b and a surface portion 10a, wherein the surface portion 10a has at least one porous area having a net charge 12; and ion particles 14 bonded to at least a portion of the at least one porous area and having a net charge opposite in sign to the net charge 12 in the at least one porous area. The bonds between the portion of the at least one porous area and the ion particles 14 give the separator at least one of excellent electrochemical performance, chemical stability, thermal stability, wettability, and mechanical strength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
