<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved sound insulation structure which blocks the gap between a door and a doorway by expansion of a hollow blocking member formed of an elastic material, achieving further enhanced sound insulation performance. <P>SOLUTION: In a state that a door 31 to open or close a doorway 1 of a room is closed, a hollow blocking member 51 formed of an elastic material is disposed facing a gap between the door and the doorway. Gas supplying means 52 is provided to supply an inert gas having a density different from that of air into the blocking member. In a state that the door is closed, the inert gas is supplied into the blocking member, so that the gap between the doorway and the door is blocked by the expanded blocking member. Consequently, voice and sound leakage from between the door and the doorway is reduced, and incidence sound waves in the blocking member are reflected by the inert gas, so that the sound waves hardly transmit through the blocking member.
