摘要 This invention is related to a method and device for improving the accuracy of locating absorption structures (such as vein or artery) that is detected using diffuse reflectance (backscattering) measurements. The method and device includes acquiring and processing multiple diffuse reflectance measurements obtained from spatially overlapped tissue regions in order to create a small width tissue region "alignment region" with amplified/maximam absorption sensitivity. The location of the vein is localized when it is aligned (parallel and coaxial) with this alignment region. The device involves for that respect an array of optical source and optical detector pairs (multiple reflectance measuring units), a measurement control unit/algorithm, and a line mark or slit for indicating the position and direction of the alignment region underneath the device "alignment slit". The device control unit/algorithm acquires and process the spatially overlapped reflectance measurements obtained from each source/detector pair such that the vein position and direction is localized underneath the device alignment slit.
