The method involves sucking gaseous environmental samples. The measurements are executed such that an environmental sample is analyzed with added ammonia in a measurement and in another measurement an environmental sample is analyzed without added ammonia. A proton transfer mass spectrometer (PTRMS)-analytical apparatus is used with a supply device for adding ammonia as auxiliary chemical product in the environmental sample. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method.
