摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide element module which reduces discontinuity of electrical connection between an optical waveguide element and a connection substrate and prevents deterioration of electrical characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical waveguide element module which has an optical waveguide element having a substrate, which has an electro-optical effect, an optical waveguide, and a control electrode, and a connection substrate, which has a wire electrically connected to the control electrode, accommodated in a housing, the control electrode includes a signal electrode and a ground electrode, the connection substrate includes a signal line and a ground line. A dielectric constant of the connection substrate is set to be lower than that of the substrate of the optical waveguide element, a width S1 of the signal electrode in an end portion of the control electrode is set to be smaller than or equal to a width S2 of the signal line in the optical waveguide element side, a space W1 between the ground electrodes in the end portion of the control electrode is set to be larger than a space W2 of the ground line in the optical waveguide element side of the connection substrate. The control electrode has a portion where the space between the ground electrodes is smaller than the space W2 in a portion away from the end portion and has a wire for grounding which connects the optical waveguide element and the connection substrate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
