<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-vehicle unit and a portable unit that supports the use of the portable unit equipped with a gyro sensor. <P>SOLUTION: For connecting a smart phone 2, an SP fixed recommendation application of the in-vehicle device 1 determines whether an application using a gyro sensor 29 provided in a smart phone 2 is under execution in the smart phone 2, and if yes, displays, for a predetermined period, a message recommending that the smart phone 2 is fixed on a display unit 12.
