<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly efficiently transmit short optical pulses with high peak power by reducing an influence of waveform distortion by tertiary or more-order dispersion, thereby acquiring the short optical pulses with high peak power at a desired position of an optical apparatus using the short optical pulses. <P>SOLUTION: The optical fiber transmission device includes: nonlinear effect generating means 20 providing the short optical pulses with a nonlinear effect and a dispersion effect; negative group velocity dispersing means 30 providing the short optical pulses emitted from the nonlinear effect generating means 20 with negative group velocity dispersion; and an optical fiber 40 for transmitting the short optical pulses emitted from the negative group velocity dispersing means 30 across a desired distance: and the optical fiber transmission device emits down chirp pulses.
