A timepiece regulating member, e.g. a balance 1, Fig. 1, is maintained in oscillation by the interaction between a coil 10 and a magnetic flux generator 7, 8, 9 and the coil is connected in series in an electric circuit comprising a battery 11 and a bi-stable element having a negative resistance for certain values of the battery voltage. The circuit is so designed that the subtraction of the voltage induced in the coil as a result of the variations in the flux passing therethrough from the battery voltage, produces the change-over of said element from its stable state determined by its maximum resistance to its stable state determined by its minimum resistance while the addition of the voltage induced in the coil to the battery voltage produces the change-over of the element from its stable state determined by its minimum resistance to its stable state determined by its maximum resistance. The bi-stable element comprises a transistor T which has a groove 13 in its base surrounding the emitter E. The base contact b1 is negatively biased by a battery 12 and the second base contact b2 situated between the groove 13 and the emitter E is positively biased by a battery 14 through a variable resistance 15 so that the value of the potential difference between the collector and the base at which the collector junction space charge zone reaches the groove 13 can be varied. The transistor has the Vc-Ic characteristic shown by the line ODF in Fig. 3, so that a positive voltage pulse induced in the coil causes a change-over of the bi-stable element to produce collector current pulses. In another example an ordinary transistor is used and its base is biased through a fieldistor controlled by the collector voltage. Two series-connected coils may be used.
