The invention relates to a method for producing a carbon carrier having nanoscale silicon particles situated on the surface, and also a carbon carrier having silicon particles that are situated on the surface and have an average particle size from 1 nm to 20 nm. It is provided that in the method, a silicon precursor in an inert carrier gas is brought into contact with the carbon carrier, wherein the carbon carrier is heated using an inductive or capacitative energy input and as a result the silicon particles are deposited.
