<p>This organic electroluminescent element is provided with a positive electrode (10), a negative electrode (20), and a light-emitting layer (30), which is liquid at room temperature, disposed between these electrodes. The light-emitting layer contains a material that is stable against first oxidation and/or first reduction, such as that represented by formula (3), or the light-emitting layer contains a hole transport material and an electron transport material. The energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital of the hole transport material is lower than the energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital of the electron transport material, and the energy of the lowest occupied molecular orbital of the electron transport material is higher than the energy of the lowest occupied molecular orbital of the hole transport layer. This configuration: enables organic electroluminescent elements, which are provided with a liquid light-emitting layer that can maintain a liquid state both when being driven and when not being driven, and which have good light emission lifespan characteristics, to be provided; and enables organic electroluminescent elements with high brightness and lower driving voltage due to good carrier recombination balance to be provided.</p> |
