PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which has high efficiency and excellent stability, and to provide a display device and a lighting device using the same.

SOLUTION: Provided are a material for an organic electroluminescent element, which is characterized by containing a compound represented by the following general formula (1), the organic electroluminescent element, the display device and the lighting device using the organic electroluminescent element, and a complex fused ring compound.
