<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device in which a simple structure is employed for moving a brush material of a cleaning member along an axial direction of a body to be cleaned for removing foreign substances present on the body to be cleaned. <P>SOLUTION: A cleaning device 400 comprises: a charging roller 2 corresponding to a body to be cleaned; a brush roller 40 including a brush material 43 for cleaning a surface of the charging roller 2 while rotating; and a cleaning member 45 in contact with the brush material 43 of the brush roller 40 for removing adhered substances adhered to the brush roller 40. The cleaning member 45 is disposed on an upstream side along a rotational direction from the charging roller 2 and a nip portion D of the brush roller 40. In a portion of the cleaning member 45 in contact with the brush roller 40, angular projections 45J projecting along a direction of a rotational axis of the brush roller 40 and angular recesses 45K are formed.
