<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pay change using larger denominations as suitably as possible, other than coins of designated denominations. <P>SOLUTION: A self-checkout device 101 includes a charge amount calculator 410 for calculating a charge amount for sold commodities, a received amount calculator 420 for calculating a received amount of cash inserted per denomination, a change amount calculator 430 for subtracting charge amount data from received amount data so as to output a change amount, and a change payment unit 440 for paying change corresponding to the output amount.
