<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator for an occupant restraint apparatus installed in a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of gas discharge openings 16 of a housing 13 and each of a plurality of communication holes 58 of a fixture 50 are disposed in a face-to-face manner, and the diameter (d1) of one of the gas discharge openings 16 and the diameter (d2) of one of the communication holes 58 satisfy a relationship of d2>d1.
