<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arc welding method capable of performing good welding from start of welding to completion of welding. <P>SOLUTION: The arc welding method includes an initial step for alternately repeating a first period T1 and a second period T2 a plurality of times; and a stationary step for transferring droplets from a consumable electrode to a base material while generating an arc between the consumable electrode and the base material after the initial step. The initial step includes a first step for transferring droplets from the consumable electrode to the base material while generating the arc in a state where a movement speed Vv, which is a speed of the consumable electrode with respect to the base material in a welding proceeding direction along the base material during each first period T1, is a first speed v1; and a second step for moving the consumable electrode to the base material in a state where the movement speed Vv is a second speed v2 that is larger than the first speed v1 during each second period T2.
