<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring apparatus and method in which the distance of an object to be a subject in a camera and a video camera or the like is measured, and to provide an imaging apparatus equipped with the same apparatus, and an imaging method. <P>SOLUTION: The distance measuring apparatus includes: a plurality of imaging elements arranged at predetermined intervals; lenses which form an image of the range-finding object on each imaging element; distance calculation means which calculates the distance up to the range-finding object for every range-finding area based on image signals output from a plurality of range-finding areas set in respective imaging elements in accordance with image formation; distance distribution generation means which generates the distribution of the calculated distances; and range-finding object position specifying means which specifies the position in the range-finding area where the range-finding object exists based on the generated distribution of the distances. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
