The method involves applying a direct voltage (Ud) at direct voltage-side terminals of a multi-phase power converter. Disconnectable power semiconductor switches (T1, T2) are controlled by switching speed in dependence of a measured collector emitter voltage of the switches and a target control signal. A direct current power source (4) is formed with a positive busbar (6) and a negative busbar (8). A bridge section (2) and the power source are electrically connected in parallel by the busbars. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a disconnectable power semiconductor switch of a bridge section of a multi-phase power converter.
