The query messages (REQ1-REQ3) are transmitted from a fieldbus master using parameters such as parity bit, baud rate and/or address, to fieldbus devices. The minimum time interval is set to 3.5 characters of successively transmitted messages, to receive response messages (RESP1). The query messages are transmitted in reverse order. The query and response messages are checked. The query messages with changed address parameters, are transmitted after receiving response message in a third scan cycle with preset parity bits and baudrate, until desired fieldbus is detected.
