The invention relates to a cylinder vacuum cleaner comprising a main body ( 3 ), a hose (5) connected to the main body for pulling the main body forwards along the floor. The invention provides a front castor ( 9 ) for supporting the main body on the floor, wherein the hose and the front castor are connected for co-rotation about the swivel axis of the front castor ( 9 ). Consequently, the front castor is always aligned with the pull direction of the cleaner, which aids manouevrability. Manouvrability is further aided by rear castors (11) having a negatively-raked swivel axis which is offset to provide a positive castor trail for the rear castors (11).
